About

Hi Everyone!  Megan & Shannon on their first visit to UM

We’re two Arkansas girls who have packed our bags and headed to Miami for graduate school. We’ve started this blog to document all of our successes, slip-ups and adventures.

We first met while studying print journalism at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville (Go Hogs!), where we worked together day and night as editors-in-chief at the Razorback Yearbook. After graduating we both took some time off to work and figure out what the next step was.

We both applied to a number of schools, only two of which were the same. But finally when the acceptance letters arrived and we researched our options, we both decided the University of Miami was the right place for us.

So in August 2010 we packed our bags in Fayetteville and headed south to sunny Miami to pursue graduate degrees in multimedia journalism. With mixed emotions, we said goodbye to our Arkansas homes and made the 22-hour journey to begin the next chapter of our lives.

We hope you’ll join us!

Shannon & Megan

Congratulations on rolling with the punches to get your first video assignment done. Amazing how much time 90 seconds of video can take.

I’m happy that you are documenting your evolution. A few weeks from now, you’ll look back on the first assignment and laugh.

This is such an exciting program; I can’t believe the two of you are actually Rich’s students! I’m joyous. Might not hurt to go back to his brilliant “Ten Years On” to see how he integrated text, stills and things like barbed wire into his work. Some Ken Burns’ touches but even more.

Hope to see you soon. On Sept 7 I move into a slightly larger efficiency across the hallway; Ivan will come down for a week and use the 2nd bed. If you guys want to come up for a weekend or just overnight Fri or Sat, let me know and I’ll keep the 2nd bed. I’ll have it taken out after guests leave so I’ll have a little room to move in.
